I'm in no way a fitness nut or health food junkie, but I was always active in sports and made it to Cape Breton University where I played on the Women's Volleyball Team (Go Capers Go). This helped me stay in shape until I was 22 when I graduated university and my volleyball career came to an ABRUPT end. By abrupt, I mean I boycotted the gym and still ate like I was working out for 3 hours everyday ... Needless to say my hips enlarged. I have curves, my thighs touch and I don't have a six-pack but I love my body! I would much rather be healthy and fit than skinny.
Here are some things I do to TRY to keep fit and healthy

#1 Metamorphosis by Tracy Anderson
I discovered Tracy Andersons Metamorphosis workout about 6 months ago and it's amazing! It's a routine made up of dancing, movements and muscle workouts. You find your specific body shape, mine i Hipcentric, and the workout is tailored for you. Its a fun workout and it doesn't feel like you're doing a ot, but you HURT the next day. I've been so busy with work and coaching that workouts are few and far between but this workout is quick and effective. She knows how to work a woman's body!
#2 Meatless Monday
One of my oldest friends got me started on Meatless Mondays. She convinced me that it's great for you body to have at least one day a week with no meat, so naturally I tried! I do it every Monday and love it. Cooking can be so much fun, so I incorporate it into my day and make amazing and healthy vegetarian, and sometimes vegan, meals!
#3 Stretching/Yoga
Every night before I go to bed I stretch. I find it helps me sleep, assists in relaxation and keeps my muscles from cramping. I love Yoga, and have a few home workouts but I rarely do it anymore. I'm trying to find a consistent time that I can do Yoga, at home or in a class, once or twice a week. Stretching and Yoga makes a huge difference in the way I feel, and thats for the better!
#4 Gluten Free-ish
I have a mild gluten intolerance, so I limit my gluten intake. It's so easy! There are a lot of gluten free options available and they're reasonable priced. I buy only gluten free salad dressings, because I TRY to take salads in my lunch, and try to find gluten free snacks.
#5 Be Happy!
When I'm happy I feel better! Sad, for me, means eat your feelings until you feel nothing. I recently attended a good friend's wedding and it was the most beautiful, happy weekend of my life! I spent time with people I haven't seen in years including my old teammates, who are like my sisters! You need to make the most of your life and be happy with your choices. When you're happy it's noticeable, and very contagious! Love yourself and you'll have peace!
Hope you enjoyed!
Cheers,
